Call Them In

I have to ask you to call them in now. Call them in from swings and skinned knees and freckles. Call them in from water hoses and fishing line and snow cones, sidewalk chalk and flipflops. Damp towels and dirty bare feet, doors that slam, sword fights and movie nights, Pallets in the living room and KoolAid stains framing wide gapped grins. It's time now for regular bed times and pools don't count for baths anymore. Summertime sun still proves cheerfully dappled by summer green trees and lighting bugs still send thier morse code in the piney twilight woods but summer ends in a long soft sigh and back to school for you and I.
